Just minutes after the medals ceremony in the main square of Vail, where the Slovenian lady skier won a silver medal in Super-G at the 2015 Vail Ski World Championships, Tina Maze and Alpina unveiled the new Alpina Comtesse ladies line, a new range of luxury mechanical lady timepieces. This was the first podium at the 2015 Championship for Maze, an athlete with an incredible story of persistence in seeking perfection in alpine skiing. Two golden medals would have followed within just a few days.
Alpina launched their first Comtesse ladies collection with automatic movements in 1963. This year the Swiss watchmaking pioneer brand, whose watchmaking history spans more than 130 years re-introduces the line to mark its long tradition in the design of fine ladies sport watches. The new range of Alpina Comtesse watches represents the balance of sportiness and elegance, embodies the concept of Swiss Alpine Chic, which recalls the timeless Alpine glamour of the St. Moritz style to the fullest: Character, Luxury and Simplicity. In terms of materials the water-resistant watches consists from a stainless steel or a yellow gold with a diamonds bezel and 11 diamonds on the dial.
Alpina, founded in 1883 has always been the source of numerous innovations, patents, and calibers. With the birth of its legendary Alpina 4 in 1938, the producer set a milestone concept of the sport watch, as we know today. Faithful to its long tradition of creating mechanical calibers, Alpina manufactures the Tourbillon, the World Timer, the Automatic Regulator, and the Small-Date Automatic. Alpina's mission is to design and engineer luxury sport watches that operate with the greatest precision and reliability possible in the most demanding sporting environments, like the Alps.
The new ambassadress of the brand is a double Olympic ski champion from Sochi, who added two golds and a silver last winter in Vail to her rich titles collection. Alpina and one of the greatest ladies on skies ever are united by their love for alpine sports, their affinity for the alpine elegance and lifestyle. They identify with the same "Alpinist" values which both believe are the foundations for any sport and any professional or personal endeavour. As Guido Benedini, Alpina CEO explained for MediaChange, “Tina Maze is an incredible athlete and a real role model for women around the world. She very closely represents the core values of our brand, which are: thinking independently, being persistent, trusting your instinct and never forgetting your roots.”
The company recently made a step further with the launch of Horological Smartwatch, the bridge between Silicon Valley and the Swiss watch industry. As said Benedini, “Alpina Horological Smartwatch is no less than a revolution for the Swiss Watch industry by extending the concept of traditional craftsmanship and design to the actual improvement of personal lifestyle and fitness. Being the inventors of the original concept of the Swiss sport watch in 1938, we are extremely proud at Alpina to have re-invented this concept in 2015 by partnering with the leading and proven MotionX technology platform”.
Alpina Horological Smartwatches track activity and sleep patterns presented in real-time on the Alpina Swiss Horological Smartwatch using traditional analog dials. The Alpina Horological Smartwatch synchronizes automatically with applications on Apple and Android smartphones. On the iOS and Android apps, simple and easy-to-understand graphics highlight how much one has moved and slept during the day, week, or month. As emphasized for the MediaChange Guido Benedini the Swiss Horological Smartwatch combines features and functionality of the MotionX technology platform with a luxury timepiece: “You will buy a timeless piece, which can up-date all the time. And this is the vision of Swiss watch makers”.
